A cozy home is not about expensive furniture or a perfect showroom look. It is about walking through your door and feeling your shoulders drop. This book shows you how to create that feeling with what you already own, a little creativity and a small budget.
Cozy Home on a Budget starts by helping you discover your own style, so you stop copying trends that do not fit your life. Then it works through the changes that make the biggest difference for the least money: rearranging furniture, layering warm lighting, choosing colours, adding texture with textiles, bringing in plants and natural materials, and making a home smell and sound inviting.
You will find a practical guide to thrift and second-hand shopping, six simple DIY and upcycling projects with step-by-step instructions, room-by-room quick wins, and plenty of renter-friendly ideas that will not risk your deposit.
To pull it all together, a four-week plan gives you one small task a day. Whether you live in a studio, a shared flat or a family house, this book will help you make it feel warm, personal and unmistakably yours.

If you change only one thing after reading this book, change your lighting. Light shapes how a room feels more than almost anything else, and it is surprisingly affordable to improve. A single bright ceiling light flattens a room. It lights everything evenly, casts unflattering shadows and makes the space feel like an office. Cozy rooms have light coming from several lower points, creating pools of warmth and soft shadows. Aim for at least three light sources in your main living space, at different heights. Bulbs are labelled with a colour temperature measured in kelvin (K). Lower numbers give warmer, more yellow light; higher numbers give cooler, bluer light. For cozy living spaces and bedrooms, look for bulbs labelled "warm white", typically around 2700K or lower. Cooler light can be useful in a work area or bathroom mirror, but in a living room it tends to feel clinical. Many shops sell energy-efficient LED bulbs in warm tones. Check the packaging for the kelvin number and choose consistently, so lamps in the same room match. Second-hand shops are full of lamps. Look past ugly shades; the base is what matters. A new plain shade or a simple fabric cover can transform an old lamp. Check that the cable and plug are in good condition, and have any doubtful electrical item checked by a professional before use.
