Tired of losing your whole weekend to housework, only to watch the mess creep back by Wednesday? Speed Cleaning swaps the dreaded big clean for a simple system: about twenty focused minutes a day, one clear job per day, and a ten-minute evening reset that means you wake up to a home already in good shape.
You will learn the seven rules professional cleaners use to work fast, from going around a room only once to letting products soak while you do something else. Then you get timed, step-by-step routines for the kitchen, bathroom, living room, bedrooms and floors, plus a ready-to-copy seven-day rotation that quietly deep cleans your home over a few weeks.
There is a full chapter on sharing chores fairly, with scripts you can use with your partner and an age-by-age list of jobs for children, and a rescue chapter for guests arriving in thirty minutes, sick weeks and houses that got away from you. Practical, kind and guilt-free.

These rules are the real secret of the book. Learn them once and every room gets faster, whether you follow my routines exactly or invent your own. Rule 1: Clear before you clean. You cannot wipe a counter covered in mail, mugs and chargers. Before cleaning any surface, spend two minutes clearing it. Grab your laundry basket and do a "put it back" sweep: anything that belongs in another room goes in the basket, rubbish goes in a bag, dishes go to the sink. At the end of the session, walk the basket around and return things to their homes, or hand the basket to the person whose stuff it is. Rule 2: Top to bottom. Dust and crumbs fall. Always clean high surfaces first (shelves, tops of cabinets, light switches), then middle (counters, tables), then floors last. If you mop and then dust a shelf, you will be mopping again. Rule 3: Go around the room once. Pick a starting point, usually the door, and work your way around the room in one direction, doing every job at each spot before you move on.
